Safer Internet Day is an annual event organised by Insafe, the European internet safety network.
The Australian Government's NetAlert initiative works closely with Insafe and coordinates events in Australia to celebrate Safer Internet Day activities. NetAlert is part of the Government's ongoing commitment to providing a safe online environment for all families, especially children.
The theme for Safer Internet Day 2008 is “Life online is what YOU make of IT”.
The intention of Safe Internet Day is to provide “an opportunity to celebrate the right of every child to enjoy safe and rewarding internet experiences”.
