Strategic Directions 2005
New South Wales State Government

This paper, called Strategic Directions 2005, is the plan which sets out what the Disability Council wants to achieve in the next three years and how Council will achieve it.

Council will work with disability groups and the broader community to address issues that are in line with Council's Vision, Mission and Guiding Principles. Council’s work will focus on issues affecting people:

  • from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities,
  • from culturally and linguistically diverse communities and
  • people living in rural and remote communities.

Specifically however, Council will address the following core priorities over the next 3 years:

  • Belonging in the Community
  • Housing
  • Children
  • Criminal Justice System

Key Result Areas

Key result areas for ongoing activity for the next 3 years are:

  1. Consultation and Involvement
  2. Improving Public Policy
  3. Influencing Change
  4. Organisational development
