Mission
SANE Australia is a national charity working for a better life for people affected by mental illness through:
Campaigns
SANE campaigns for improved services for, and attitudes towards, people affected by mental illness. As well as ongoing advocacy for improved services, SANE lobbies on specific issues such as the effect of welfare reform and drug strategies on the lives of people with a mental illness. SANEs StigmaWatch program monitors and pursues stigma against people with a mental illness in the media.
Education
SANE promotes understanding of mental illness through an award-winning range of education products and services for those affected, their family and friends, health professionals and the general community:
- Guidebooks, factsheets, videos and other resources on mental illness and related topics
- A national freecall 1800 Helpline (also Helpline Online) offering information and referral
- SANEs site on the world wide web www.sane.org

Research
SANE conducts applied research which aims to make a real difference to the lives of Australians affected by mental illness and to those who care for them. Our Research area contains reports and information on the following topics:
