Description:	This session will provide basic positive behaviour management, better communication techniques and visual strategies for improving difficult behaviours and learning outcomes. Topics include: What is Autism Spectrum disorders? Parental input; Positive Behaviour support; Basics of behaviour; Tantrums and meltdowns; Communication tips; Visual Supports; Rewards and motivation; Sensory issues; Strategies to assist social skills; Playground issues. Powerpoint notes and booklet included. Cristina Isaac is a former primary teacher and the parent of four children, two with Asperger's Syndrome, a young man, 19, and a girl, 11. She has been involved with Autism Spectrum Support groups for eight years, including an education advocacy group and currently is the president of Southern Autism Spectrum Family Support Group (SASFSG) based at Carrum Downs. She is a qualified Community support worker, trainer, facilitator and Signposts practitioner. This workshop is suitable for primary, secondary school and other professionals who support people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
